![]() Under the descriptive appellative of La Manga there is a curious orographic caprice that has been one of the symbols that best identify Murcia´s coast. It is extended approximately 24 km between Cabo de Palos and Punta del Mojon, that puts natural limits to a salted water lake known as Mar Menor . In it’s origin, what is now known as La Manga del Mar Menor, was a bay open to the Mediterranean; on it´s extremes, volcanic rocks acted as brakes of sand and sediments dragged by the sea, to make a sand column of dunes, wild vegetation and extended beaches bathed by two seas: The Mediterranean and The Mar Menor. La Manga is a stretch strip of land which’s width varies between 200 metres and 1,5 km. It is cut by natural channels that maintain the contact between both seas. This space was maintained virgin until the 70´s when La Manga was discovered as a touristic location, experimentating a transformation with the urbanization of the area and the construction of touristic structures. Today, everything in La Manga is thought to make the stay more pleasant for the visitor. Hotels and establishments with the maximum qualification, residential complexes, ports, saling schools, supermarkets, shops, bars……everything you need for a fantastic holidays. It is a wonderful place for the practice of water sports, with an excellent
temperature during all year
